My political story
I started in community work when I was 15 years old and since then, as one of DC's youngest elected officials, have fought for residents in the city's poorest communities - where I grew up and live. I believe our toughest issues can be solved at the grassroots and I'm working every day in my community to build capacity for every person to be an effective advocate for the issues that matter most to them.
Why I deserve a Netroots Nation Scholarship
The best leaders in our neighborhoods learn from example. Netroots in a training ground for best practices on organizing and mobilizing citizens around progressive causes. In a city with one of the largest opportunity disparities in the nation, it's imperative we find creative ways to strengthen communities. I'm excited to attend Netroots and take the best of our nation back to DC.

The blog post I am most proud of
I am most proud of leading my Ward's neighborhood walks on behalf of the Mayor's office that bring neighbors and agency representatives together to see first hand some of the most persistent problems in our communities and provides the space for an unprecedented interagency approach to solving these issues. The walks are monthly and have logged and are on track to solving dozens are long-standing infrastructural and systematic issues.

Democratic politics and values are the life's blood of my work and I've committed a great deal of time advocating for the initiatives championed by our President and progressive officials and candidates here in Washington and across the country.
